Williston/Richmond

Bolton/Jericho/Underhill

Located East of Burlington, most of these towns are known as the more rural towns in the countryside of Chittenden County. Williston is the unique exception, as it offers both a bustling town center with plenty of shops and amenities, and a more scenic countryside. All of these towns have an abundance of outdoor recreation.

Williston

Williston is located directly east of Burlington, and is one of the most rapidly growing towns in the county. Both VT Route 2 and Interstate 89 run through the town, making it an easy place to travel to, and commute from. Not only is there is huge array of housing and neighborhood options in Williston, but it also features the counties largest amenity hub, all while showcasing a charming historic village. Williston is proud to proclaim its "old town charm, new town spirit", and exemplifies this with many community engagement opportunities.

Williston is well known for the shopping and amenities found in Tafts Corners and the Maple Tree Place, which both residents and visitors can enjoy. There's almost a dozen big box stores, and many smaller, locally owned stores in and around Tafts Corners. The community offers plenty of dining options, ranging from well known franchises to locally owned restaurants and eateries. Williston offers plenty of indoor entertainment options, including the popular Majestic 10 Movie Theater, Escape Room 60, Monkey Do! and Get Air Trampoline Park. The town also has a variety of gym's including Orange Theory, Synergy Fitness, Lift VT, Champlain Valley Community Fitness and the RehabGYM.

Williston has many parks for residents and visitors to enjoy including Brennan Park, Village Community Park and Rossignol Park. Five Tree Hill Park offers a easy-moderate walking/hiking option, with a west facing view, overlooking the town, at the top of the hill. The Catamount Outdoor Family Center is a 400 acre property that has a variety of activities, including hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. The Williston Country Club is located near the historic village and boasts lovely views, an 18 hole golf course, a clubhouse and restaurant on the property.

 Richmond

Neighboring Williston directly to the east, Richmond is a quiet and convenient town. Similar to Williston, VT Route 2 and Interstate 89 runs through Richmond. Since it is such a central town and it benefits from easy access to both a state highway and the interstate, Richmond is a very enjoyable town for both residents and visitors.

The town is nestled in the western foothills of the Green Mountains and enjoys quick access to lots of hiking trails and outdoor recreation, as well as a quaint village with some restaurants, small shops and a market. Richmond is home to the famous Round Church, a rare 16-sided meetinghouse built in the early 1800's, which is believed to be one of the first community churches in the USA.

Richmond primarly has single family homes that are located on private parcels of land, but there are a handful of small condo/townhome developments and some unique older homes tucked away in the town center off Route 2. The town is bisected by the Winooski River, which offers lots of spots to swin and float in the warm Vermont summer months. The town also hosts a farmers market every Friday in the summer, near Volunteers Green Park. Richmond is home to Cochrans Ski area, a privately owned ski area that is a popular place for learning to ski.

Bolton

Located in the eastern corner of Chittenden County, Bolton is often referred to as a hidden gem. Nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains, the town is home to Bolton Valley Resort, a ski resort that has recently become an all season resort offering mountain biking, hiking and disc golf in the summer. Bolton is loved by local Vermonters and visitors that appreciate a quiet escape to Vermont. The Winooski River bisects the town from east to west. Interstate 89 and VT Route 2 runs through the town. The town boasts breathtaking views of the hills and mountains surrounding it.

Bolton prides itself on being a rural town with an abundance of forests, recreational activities and having a tight knit community. Bolton has a variety of homes, including older historic homes, newer construction, some off-grid properties and even a few condo and townhome neighborhoods. The West Bolton Golf Course, an 18-hole course, is located in the northern part of the town, near Jericho. The Long Trail runs through Bolton, and there's plenty of hiking trails and swimming spots to enjoy throughout the town.

Jericho and Underhill

The towns of Jericho and Underhill are located at the base of Mount Mansfield and the Green Mountain State Park. Underhill State Park allows access to the western hiking trails of Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak. The towns are divided up into four sections: Jericho: Jericho Center and Jericho Corners - Underhill: Underhill Flats and Underhill Center. The two towns share some public services such as a fire department. VT Route 15 runs through the towns.

Mills River Park, located in Jericho, offers a variety of activites and amenities including a farmers market every Thursday in the early summer through the early fall, hiking trails, access to swimming in the Browns River and an off leash area for dogs. Along with being close to a variety of hiking, these rural towns offer easy access to lots of outdoor recreation such as fishing, hunting and skiing. The closest ski resort is Smugglers Notch, just 15 minutes away in the nearby town of Jeffersonville.

Jericho is well known for historic charm and is home to the iconic Old Red Mill, a National Historic site that features the Historical Society Museum, Snowflake Bentley Exhibit and a Craft Shop. Jericho is also home to Snowflake Chocolates and Palmer Lane Maple. The Jericho Cafe and Tavern and Joe's Snack Bar are popular places for residents and visitors to dine at.

Though Underhill and Jericho are rural towns, they still have multiple grocery markets, banks and other amenties and services for residents to enjoy. Due to the exceptional charm of these towns, close proximity to the larger, nearby town of Essex, and the queen city, Burlington, Underhill and Jericho are popular places to live and visit.
